A film crew from Robson Green’s “Tales of Northumberland” visited us on 7th July to film the Mary Joicey and associated lifeboat bric a brac. The new series next year will apparently feature a whole programme on Newbiggin and the community centred around the lifeboat. We are sworn to secrecy about the detailed features of the programme so you will have to watch out for when it airs.
Robson Green has a particular soft spot for Newbiggin and has visited many times. One of his ‘Blood On the Wire’ programmes was partly filmed here and he interviewed Jackie Charlton in the Maritime Centre two years ago for another of his documentary programmes. He is apparently visiting us again next week to have a ride in the Inshore Lifeboat.
